Jarod Schroeder, twice named the Illinois Swimming Coach of the year, has been given the job of assistant coach for NU's men's swimming program; he will replace John Pontz. Schroeder, a member of the Northern Illinois University Athletics Hall of Fame, most recently served as interim head coach at Maryland. He is a three-time Mid-America Conference Swimmer of the Year and holds seven individual conference titles.

Schroeder, not new to Northwestern, worked as a volunteer for the swimming program from 2000 to 2006 while serving as head coach of the New Trier Swim Club.
