Despite running unopposed for Executive Vice President, Vikram Karandikar has worked hard to develop a platform and talk to students about how he can best fulfill his duties next year.
As a member of the ASG Executive Committee, the most efficient body in the overwhelming bureaucracy that is ASG, Karandikar has experience in sorting through red tape and accomplishing his goals. These qualities will be important next year, because the committee is undergoing a transitional period with many inexperienced underclassmen.
The McCormick sophomore's most ambitious plan is to increase funding for B-Status student groups from 2.5 percent of the total ASG funding pool to no more than 3.5 percent. B-Status organizations have passed a one-year temporary status period but are not on the same funding level as A-Status groups.
Karandikar also plans to increase interaction between student groups by creating a voluntary workshop in which established A-Status groups can assist younger B-Status groups in developing their organization and expanding their outreach.
Lastly, the former ASG senator promised to create a compilation of constitutions from all NU student groups.
Karandikar's leadership, experience and knowledge will guide the Executive Committee through its transition.
