In the race for Academic Vice President, there are two strong, experienced candidates. As opposed to Mian, a three-year veteran of the Academic Committee, McGee brings a new, well-thought out perspective to a committee in dire need of change and efficiency.

McGee has experience on the Executive Committee, one of the most productive branches of ASG. He is in the unique position of having ASG experience and also having an outside approach to the Academic Committee and its role as a part of the greater organization.

McGee has already met with administrators to discuss his plans for academic advising, which include an NU Peer Academic Link Web site where upperclassmen can advise students who are new to this university.

Instead of planning initiatives with only students, McGee's approach is to solicit administration input from the beginning of the planning process. By working with the administration, good plans are more likely to become concretely established.

Another important aspect of McGee's platform is his interest in working with the Center for Civic Engagement. He hopes to improve relationships with Evanston by publicizing community outreach programs and making them more accessible to students.

In terms of internal ASG affairs, McGee aims to make the organization more transparent by involving students in its processes.

McGee's proactive attitude and record for efficiency are needed to reinvigorate the Academic Committee.
