SAVE A HORSE, RIDE A PRIUS
If you thought you were hallucinating when you stepped into a SafeRide Prius last weekend and heard it was "Theme Night," you weren't. It started when two female drivers decided to spice up some drunken passengers' nights. So they put up sign that said "Tonight's theme is Country Western night," dressed in flannel and braids, rocked out to country music (yes, all seven hours) and offered beef jerky to their passengers - though rumor has it that boys gobbled all that up within the first 45 minutes of the tour.
Many of the passengers, who were all greeted by "Howdy" when they entered the vehicle, thought it was cute but didn't get too into it. Some had ideas about what the next theme night should be, offering up ideas such as "Disney Princesses" or "Eighties." So if you get in one of these themed cars next weekend, think of it like winning the lottery. Except probably better, because it comes with snacks.
NU HITS THE BIG STAGE
If anyone is bound to become famous and stop being your friend, it's those guys and dolls in Northwestern's renowned musical theater program. This week, we hear that Communication senior Adam Kantor has moved to New York City because he was cast in the Broadway production of Rent. He's playing the lead role, Mark, and will be the last one to do so. It was announced that the long-running production will close this year, so NU's own is in the final cast. When Rent's director, Michael Greif, directed a show last summer for Northwestern's American Musical Theater Project. he cast Kantor in the lead, supposedly loved him, then scored him an audition.
B.J. AND HIS BROS
At a campus after-party following his standup act Saturday, we hear B.J. Novak strolled in with his brother in tow (his family saw him perform for the first time at the show). No one was carding or counting drinks at the party, but one of his little brothers is apparently pretty little: One (very creeped out) girl he hit on thought he was 16.
