Northwestern professors may have a new way to garner a promotion: chocolate. Giving students chocolate improves results on teacher evaluations, according to a new study conducted in part by a NU researcher. Northwestern received $416 million in research grants this year, the largest amount of grant money it has ever earned. The money received increased by 8 percent from the $380 million obtained last year. The number of grants also increased from 2,229 to 2,381.…

Northwestern students have the chance to participate in a global - and potentially record-breaking - stand against poverty this week. Members of NU's Rotaract Club are bringing the Stand Up, Speak Out Against Poverty Campaign to campus. This global project was created to be the voice for the world's impoverished and speak out against the United Nation's lack of action in carrying out the first of their Millennium Development Goals, which was cutting the number of people living on a dollar a day in half by the year 2015.…

On a campus probably known more for brains than bodies, Playboy Magazine is auditioning students for their "Girls of the Big '10'" issue. More than 25 girls from Northwestern auditioned Monday and Tuesday to be featured in one of Playboy's biannual college issues.…

The Medill School of Journalism is forming a committee to explore a possible name change. Dean John Lavine said the committee will consider altering the name to better represent the school and what it offers. "We're really exploring what the name should be, could be, what people think about it," he said.…
