Gun ban change is only the start

Council's choice to drop handgun law was no choice at all, and the results won't be limited to just Evanston
In considering the city council's recent decision to drop the city-wide handgun ban, the word that first comes to mind is astute. Astute, of course, in both the political and financial sense. The city is able to save money on a lawsuit it almost certainly would have lost, and the decision will also placate gun owners in the area and those around the nation who are watching to see how these early test cases pan out.… 19 Comments

I cannot imagine that Peter Jackson approached his mean-spirited editorial about Northwestern tours with an open mind. Jackson insinuates that the campus tours, which I supervise, mislead Northwestern's prospective students. As an employee and a recent alumnus, I find the contention insulting.… 1 Comment

As a former assistant director of undergraduate admission at Northwestern and the person who hired Lily Becker two years ago, I am disappointed that someone would write such a hurtful and unfair editorial about her.
