Welcome back ‘Cat fans! Much has gone on since my last update, including two practices, a D-Squad Bowl, a visit from the leader of our state, a team lunch to promote the Outback Bowl, and a huge win by our men’s basketball team. While I’ve mentioned all the great opportunities and experiences we’ve had while preparing for the bowl, it’s not all fun and games. Our team is very focused on winning Northwestern’s first bowl game in 60 years come January 1st. Watching film daily with the D-line can become a nuisance and boring, but it is essential in order to be as prepared as we can for the game. As Coach Hank likes to say, “The will to prepare must be greater than the will to win.” Ending Monday, we will have had five very tough practices...Hahn Solo: Blog Post No. 2

Welcome back ‘Cats fans. A lot has happened since my last post, so here are some updates. We had a very spirited practice yesterday morning. The heat has been turned up to over 80 degrees in our indoor facility to simulate the conditions that we’ll be playing in on January 1st. As Coach Hank likes to quote, “If you’re going to fight in the North Atlantic, you must train in the North Atlantic.” Needless to say, some guys had trouble with the sudden heat wave. I’m not going to name any names, but #99 was struggling to stay hydrated. After practice, many guys stuck around to catch a little tape on Auburn and become more familiar with their schemes. What’s going on Purple Nation? Yours truly has been asked to help give a peek inside our football family while we prepare to take on the Auburn Tigers in the Outback Bowl. This a great opportunity for our program to take the next step and win a bowl game. And what a better time to do it than on January 1st in Tampa, Florida. While this is such an exciting time, we have heavy hearts, as Coach Marty Long cannot prepare with us. Our team would appreciate all your thoughts and prayers for Coach Long and his family as he continues to progress from his operation. In the mean time, our Defensive Quality Control Assistant, and former NU d-lineman, Matt Clark is joining forces with Coach Hank to get the d-line coached up and ready for the game.
