Election does matter, even to NU students
I would like to remind students that there is an election this Tuesday, April 17. On the ballot will be candidates for the District 65 and 202 school boards as well as two referendum questions pertaining to Evanston's Civic Center.
I'm sure you're asking yourself, "why should I care about a local school board election?" Well, except for those of you who graciously volunteer in our schools, I'm not going to pretend you should. It's just that a good friend of mine is running for District 65 and this is my attempt to appeal to your sense of democratic responsibility and civic duty.
Please, take just a few minutes out of your day to exercise your right to vote and cast one of your votes for Andy Pigozzi for District 65 School Board. Thanks.

Stale ASG ineffective, needs big changes
After seeing the results of the most recent Associated Student Government election, I think ASG needs a major overhaul. When a total of five candidates run for four positions, it is evident that there is not enough interest in student government. Perhaps this is because ASG fails to involve the student body enough. Or perhaps this is because students believe that ASG doesn't make a difference. Whatever the reason, ASG needs to evaluate whether they are serving the needs of students or they are serving themselves like a wasteful bureaucracy. If ASG continues down this path of not involving students and increasing student apathy, ASG will become an increasingly ineffective organization instead of a means to empower the entire student body.
