The Kellogg School of Management will offer a new program for managers with MBA degrees starting this fall.
The Kellogg Renaissance Program: New Tools and Strategies for the Experienced MBA was created for managers who received their MBA degrees prior to 1995 and are in the middle of their careers.
"The idea came from a group of us who work in executive education looking at trends," said Brenda Ellington-Booth, the Renaissance Program's academic director and principal curriculum designer.
Ellington-Booth said different types of students can benefit from the program. Students who did not attend a top-tier school will benefit from the knowledge of renowned Kellogg faculty, and those who did attend a top-tier school will benefit from more than a decade's worth of changes made to coursework.
"We are constantly updating our material," she said. "It is an opportunity to give your MBA a boost."
The three-week program is broken into two sessions. The first two weeks focus on advances and changes made in management education since the mid-1990s, with topics ranging from leading and marketing in a nanosecond culture to the use of real options to manage risk.
The final week of the program occurs five months after the first session and challenges students to rethink their approach to leadership. Students will apply the most up-to-date leadership ideas and practices to their senior positions of responsibility.
The first Renaissance Program begins Sept. 17 and will be held in the James L. Allen Center.
Ellington-Booth said the number of students enrolled is hard to gauge and that the number will not be known until the end of August.
"The faculty is really excited about this program," she said.
