Round of 16

Stanford (22-1) vs. Vanderbilt (19-8)

The Cardinal finished the season ranked No. 1 in the country and with only one loss, which came to the No. 3 Georgia Tech. But Stanford hasn't lost in the NCAA Tournament since losing to Florida in the 2003 final, and with four players in the national top 20, the Cardinal should cruise over the Commodores.

Daily Pick: Stanford

Southern California (19-4) vs. Miami (Florida) (21-8)

USC doesn't have much depth behind its top singles player, Sarah Fansier. The Hurricanes have the No. 1 player in the country in junior Audra Cohen and enough firepower to take down the Trojans.

Daily Pick: Miami

Florida (23-2) vs. Baylor (24-6)

Florida made it to the semifinals last year with a much deeper and more experienced team, but its three freshmen are all ranked in the top 100 nationally and its doubles have been playing well of late. Baylor has faced the Gators the past two years in the tournament, losing both times. They won't break that streak.

Daily Pick: Florida

Northwestern (23-4) vs. UCLA (18-7)

These teams met earlier this season, with NU easily winning, 5-2. The Bruins have the top doubles team in the Pac-10, but against the Big Ten's best - ninth-ranked combo Georgia Rose and Alexis Prousis - winning will be hard.

Daily Pick: NU

UNC (23-8) vs. Notre Dame (27-3)

Notre Dame was ranked second in the country until NU beat them, but still hold one of the top doubles teams in the country in twins Catrina and Christian Thompson. North Carolina did the one thing the Irish didn't do this season, beat the Wildcats at home, but since this is at a neutral site and Notre Dame wants to regain its top ranking, don't look for the Tar Heels to prevail.

Daily Pick: Notre Dame

Fresno State (22-3) vs. Georgia Tech (25-4)

This match will showcase No. 3 Melanie Gloria of Fresno State versus No. 6 Kristi Miller of Georgia Tech at the No. 1 singles spot. Beyond that battle, as talented as Fresno State is, they will be basically playing an away match with a hostile crowd rooting against them. The Yellow Jackets haven't lost in 17 outings and won't let the Bulldogs take the first upset of the tournament.

Daily Pick: Georgia Tech

California (21-6) vs. Clemson (22-4)

This should be a battle of strong doubles versus strong singles. Unfortunately for the solid doubles of Clemson, the tandem portion of the competition only gets one point. The Tigers have two of the nation's top 25 teams, but the Golden Bears have two of the top 12 singles players and, despite losing their last three regular season matches to West Coast tournament foes UCLA, USC and Stanford, they are eager to go deep in the tourney.

Daily Pick: California

William and Mary (22-2) vs. Georgia (23-1)

Even though William and Mary has the top doubles team in the country, they proved beatable when NU's duo of Prousis and Rose topped them on the road. As well as the Tribe has been playing, Georgia is hosting the NCAA Tournament and should provide a raucous crowd.

Daily Pick: Georgia

Quarterfinals

Stanford vs. Miami

When four of your singles players are ranked in the top 50 in the country, something has to be going right, which is exactly what Stanford is feeling. Miami's Cohen should pose problems at No. 1, but if Stanford's Theresa Logar plays her best, the match could turn into a rout for the Cardinal.

Daily Pick: Stanford

Florida vs. NU

This is finally the chance sophomore Keri Robison has to play her former team and it will be when it counts the most: to get NU into the semifinals for the first time on Claire Pollard's watch. While Florida has been a perennial contender deep in the NCAA tourney, the Wildcats are streaking and their depth is a reason they are the No. 5 seed.

Daily Pick: NU

Notre Dame vs. Georgia Tech

Notre Dame's leadership and experience won't help them in this hard-fought matchup with the hottest team in the country. Georgia Tech's singles are stronger than Notre Dame's and its doubles are just as good. This should be close, but Tech's Miller should provide the difference.

Daily Pick: Georgia Tech

California vs. Georgia

Georgia avenged its only loss this season by beating Auburn to advance in the NCAA Tournament and looks to be one of the more unbeatable teams in the tournament. They have defeated four top-10 teams this season and depending on which Cal team shows up to play, the Bulldogs should handle this match due to their superior depth and doubles.

Daily Pick: Georgia

Semifinals

Stanford vs. NU

While NU has long been the powerhouse of the Big Ten, Stanford has been the powerhouse of the nation, winning three straight NCAA team titles. Due to Stanford's solid top-of-the-order singles, the Cats need to strike at the bottom of their lineup with strong play by Lauren Lui and Nazlie Ghazal to keep the match close. But in the end, this match will come down to the play at No. 1 singles, NU's Rose vs. Stanford's Logar.

Daily Pick: Stanford.

Georgia Tech vs. Georgia

The only in-state rivalry being played out in the tournament, Georgia is the home team and the only time the two teams played this season, the Bulldogs won 5-2 on the same courts on which this match will be played. The Yellow Jackets will need strong play from All-Americans Kristi Miller and Whitney McCray to advance to the finals.

Daily Pick: Georgia

Finals

Georgia vs. Stanford

France won its World Cup when it hosted the tournament. As did Wisconsin when the Frozen Four was held in its backyard last season. Having a solid team and loyal close-at-hand fans adds another intangible to the mix and that's exactly what the Bulldogs have. Stanford's shot at a four-peat ends here and mayhem will probably ensue as much as it can for a tennis championship in Athens, Ga.

Daily Pick: Georgia
